BATON ROUGE, La (LOCAL 33) – Baton Rouge Community College and the Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council invite Baton Rouge residents and students alike to participate in the 2017 “BRCC Electronics Recycling Collection Day” event.
“BRCC Electronics Recycling” will be held Wednesday, April 5, 2017 through Wednesday, April 12, 2017 on the Mid City Campus, 201 Community College Dr. There will be two collection bins in the Cypress Building for students and employees. CACRC will have a truck on campus to recycle any equipment that local residents would like to drop off on April 12. The truck will be parked in the BRCC entrance on N. Foster Drive (lawn) from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
The free event is sponsored by the BRCC Green Bears Club, who promote green, environmental-friendly and sustainable practices and education in the campus community of and throughout the local community.
“Over the years, we have had recycling events with the college and we appreciate their dedication to electronic recycling. We expect to serve an even larger portion of the community with this event,” said Nancy Jo Craig, executive director for the CACRC.
Participants will not be required to handle the electronics. Trained CACRC staff members will be on site to collect and load items from donors, and will also provide donation vouchers and certificates of destruction to ensure data security.
Recyclables include computer hardware and accessories, laptops, desktops, flat screen monitors to name a few. Appliances, copiers, televisions and furniture cannot be recycled through the CACRC. All donated equipment will be refurbished or recycled via the CACRC’s Responsible Recycling Practices (R2) Program.
