NEW DELHI: Over 40 stocks in the NSE Nifty were trading in green with Axis Bank gaining the most at 4 per cent in the afternoon trade. The private sector hogged limelight after it said the bank has raised Rs 3,500 crore by issuing debt securities on a private placement basis.
According to reports, Vedanta will spend $3 billion over the next three years as it seeks to expand oil reserves and nearly double output from its largest field.
Overall, markets sentiments was firm ahead of the June derivative expiry.
In the Nifty50 pack, 44 stocks were trading in green, while 6 stocks were in red.
Traders were seen buying in electronics, shipping, infrastructure, petrochemicals, petroleum, finance and retail while selling were visible in aquaculture, packaging, transport and engineering sectors.
