PEORIA, Ill – Thousands of Peorian’s lined up Saturday morning to part ways with some of their old electronics.
From old televisions to computers or hard drives, it was all for Peoria Public Works E-Recycle program to clean up the River City
The initiative began to encourage residents to stop dumping their old belongings in alleys or vacant lots. Organizers hope the event inspires members of the community to go green.
“A big emphasis for us is trying to keep Peoria clean,” said Scott Reeise, Director of Peoria Public Works. He added, “This makes us more efficient cause we would have two guys out right now, picking up debris throughout this town.”
After cars dropped off their electronics they were invited to load up their vehicle with as much free mulch as they needed.
