WHAT: The programs of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) help to foster tech skills in the next generation. They also might just lead to an uprising if the student-designed machines in this weekend’s competition get a little too smart for their circuits. We’ve seen “The Terminator,” and we know where this stuff leads. Until then, it’s all fun and games as high-school teams pit their gadgets against each other in the arena, pitching balls across the field of battle in a game best summed up as “robot soccer.”

WHEN: 8:30 a.m.-5:45 p.m. Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 14-15
