CLARKSVILLE — Holiday shoppers at Green Tree Mall might notice a few things different about the Clarksville shopping center.
Victoria’s Secret and Bath Body Works moved to bigger locations within the mall on Nov. 11 and 12, respectively. The change allows the stores to offer more merchandise, and — in Bath Body Works’ case — includes the addition of a White Barn “fragrance destination,” which will feature candles, wall plugs and room sprays.
The stores’ moves were the final step in a plan announced in July to renovate and expand four stores within Green Tree Mall before the holidays: The Buckle, Hot Topic, Victoria’s Secret and Bath Body Works.
The Buckle and Hot Topic opened their improved locations in August.
But these store openings are just one change in a mall that’s been in a state of transition for two years after 48 years of existence.
In 2014, Green Tree Mall underwent a multimillion dollar renovation that included the modernization of its entrances, new lighting and new tile work, among other improvements.
Last year, an HM location opened in the shopping center.
“It’s all good momentum,” said Chris Cullen, the general manager for the mall. It gives the shopping center “new energy,” she said.
The mall is taking on two seasonal tenants since Victoria’s Secret’s and Bath Body Work’s old locations are now vacant.
Unusual Jack’s, a country furniture and gift shop, assumes Bath Body Work’s prior site today (Wednesday), while local gift shop 360 Degrees opens in Victoria’s Secret previous storefront on Friday.
Cullen said there are plans in the works for what stores will occupy those spots after the holiday season is over, but the mall won’t divulge details until deals are signed.
The new home for Victoria’s Secret, which was Bath Body Works’ previous location, is 9,000 square feet — compared to the 6,000 square feet it occupied before. Bath Body Works now occupies what was once three spots, including Hot Topic’s old location.
The store openings are just in time for Black Friday — an important day for the mall’s retailers, Cullen said.
Select stores within Green Tree Mall will open as early as Thanksgiving for holiday shopping.
J.C. Penney will open at 3 p.m. Thursday and Sears and several other smaller stores will open from 6 p.m. to midnight.
Green Tree Mall will reopen at 6 a.m. for Black Friday shopping. All stores in the mall will open for the day, albeit at different times. Santa arrives at the mall at 10 a.m.
