1. Manatee County Fair
Starting 5 p.m. Thursday, enjoy family fun featuring everything from pig races to a performance by Grammy-winning country music act Shenandoah (Friday), plus all your favorite midway action and decadent fair food. 2. Ice skating and more at UTC’s Holidays on the Green
Outdoor ice skating in the Sunshine State is the main attraction along with a bunch of other fun, family-friendly activities at Holidays on the Green at UTC. Ten bucks gets you skates and use of the rink for 90 minutes. 3. Shawn Wayans at McCurdy’s Comedy Theatre
The actor and writer best known for the hit comedy films “White Chicks,” “Scary Movie,” and “Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood” will bring his stand-up skills to McCurdy’s in downtown Sarasota this week. 4. ‘The Princess Bride’ at JDub’s
Having recently celebrated its 30th anniversary with a return to theaters nationwide, the beloved rom-com fantasy adventure “The Princess Bride” can now be seen in the beer garden at JDub’s Brewing Company Tap Room. That’s right. 5. Selby Library Youth ‘Crystal Ball’
Forget the usual rules, it’s party time at the library and everyone is invited. Friends of the Selby Public Library’s 8th annual fundraiser, a casual affair dubbed “Crystal Ball-The People’s Gala,” will be inside Selby Public Library with food samples from over 20 local restaurants, entertainment including specialty acts, singers, musicians, and more.
