However, he wasn’t on TV to chat about his love life.

The rapper visited Eamonn Holmes and Charlotte Hawkins to discuss his new documentary Professor Green: Living In Poverty, which is available on the BBC Three iPlayer.

The 33-year-old met 10-year-old Kelly, who faced eviction with her family and got upset on camera while talking about moving.

Pro Green could be seen getting visibly upset as Kelly said: ‘I hope they don’t move us somewhere far away, because I want to stay in school. When I don’t have my friends with me, I feel really upset and really lonely.’

He explained that 2.3 million kids in the UK live in poverty, with 25% of children living on the breadline.

The star, real name Stephen Manderson, told the GMB hosts: ‘I think we’ve got a really bad habit in this country of sweeping things under the carpet and pretending that they’re not happening. This situation is getting worse.

‘As a child growing up in poverty, you’re three times more likely to end up back in that situation. These kids don’t have chances, as far as social mobility, it doesn’t exist. Unless you have a golden ticket, you’re a good rapper or you can play football.’

Pro Green then discussed his own childhood in Hackney.

He said: ‘I didn’t know any different. I wasn’t born into a family with money, there was love, which was the most important thing. There was no social media when I was growing up, so I don’t think kids were as aware of the things they might not have had.

‘There was six of us in a three bedroom flat when I was born. People like to say “Oh how can you talk about poverty”, well, that’s how I grew up. This is something I understand.’

Addressing his rap career, he said: ‘That was my golden ticket. That was my way out. Listen, I never sold hard drugs but I make no secret of the fact I sold weed… that’s nothing to be proud of.

‘And that’s just because it was normalised. As a young kid, I saw things that I shouldn’t have.’

Manderson said they he hopes to continue shining a light on the poverty problem with his documentaries, saying: ‘I want to continue doing so. How do you fix this problem? There’s one in four children in poverty and that’s set to rise in the next three years. How are we ok with that? Great Britain, what’s great? Wicked, of course, great.’

Pro Green’s telly appearance comes as his ex Millie Mackintosh confirmed she is engaged to Made In Chelsea’s Hugo Taylor.

Millie reunited with her ex-boyfriend shortly after divorcing from Pro Green.

The rapper married heiress Millie in 2013, with the couple splitting in 2016.

Pro Green is dating model Fae Williams.
