From baking cookies to hanging up decorative lights, the holidays require a lot of energy. Take charge of your energy and water use by attending the City of Glendale Water Services Department’s free “Simple Cents Home Efficiency” class at 6 p.m., Dec. 7 in Glendale Main Library, 5959 W. Brown St, Glendale.

A conservation specialist from the city’s Conservation and Sustainable Living Division will provide simple tips and user-friendly resources to help homeowners save energy, water and money.

Glendale residents that attend the class will also receive a free efficiency kit (one per household), including a four-pack of compact fluorescent light bulbs and a low-water-use shower head. These efficiency devices are funded by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program.

Glendale’s “Green-Living” series will start up again in February 2017 with new topics and resources to help residents create a more sustainable home. For a complete listing of the “Green-Living” class series, visit www.glendaleaz.com/green.

The classes are free, however advance registration is required by calling 623-930-3760 or e-mailing greenliving@glendaleaz.com.
