Greener BeeGreen TipsHow you can still help in the CrimeSTOPPERS Street Sweep

ALBANY, GA (WALB) –

He’s not the only one of our most wanted who is now locked up.

Two fugitives featured tonight are sitting the Dougherty County Jail behind me and one is in the Lee County jail. WALB teamed up with eight different agencies to highlight the area’s most wanted fugitives. They’re still hoping to get more tips to get more suspects off the streets.

In the first few hours following the kickoff of our latest street sweep, authorities captured three of our most wanted. Aggravated assault suspect Waylon Jackson was arrested at Slappey and Waddell while we were still on the air. Richard Green, Jr. was also wanted for aggravated assault. A tip led to his arrest on Odom Avenue. Burglary suspect Lauren Taylor was arrested during a traffic stop at Madison Street and 1st Avenue. But investigators’ work is far from over.

“Well were still looking for them. They need to turn themselves in. If anybody has any information on these people please notify Worth County 911 so they can be picked up,” said Lt. Kenneth Washington.

During our evening newscasts, we profiled 20 fugitives from Dougherty, Lee, and Worth Counties and asked viewers to call in tips about them.

“those tips will be followed up on so if they want to get and update on it they can call 436-TIPS and be connected to the Albany Police department where they can follow up on the information they provided as long as they give the specific number they were given tonight,” said Phyllis Banks, APD Media Manager.

We got nearly 100 calls into our newsroom during street sweeps. Law enforcement says this collaborative effort is proving to be successful.

“Just by some of the things that happened over the weekend people want crime out of their neighborhood and this is the way to get it out of your neighborhood to partner with local enforcement and programs life this,” continued Banks.

Officers received tips on 14 of the 20 fugitives.

“it is certainly the people that called in, we could not do any of this without them and their support to help get these criminals off the street,” said Judy Randle, Crime Stoppers.

If you recognize one of these faces, call and turn them in, you can remain anonymous.
